"The wound is where the light enters" 13th century
I have been working in Mental Health for 30 years. I have worked in my capacity as a Therapist for a university and the NHS . Previously qualified as a social worker I have worked in inner London for a local authority, NSPCC and Barnados.
More recently I have been employed by Tavistock Relationships, an internationally respected and renowned psychotherapy training organisation based in central London: here I completed an advanced training in Couples Psychotherapy and was subsequently employed as staff clinician and international online team member.
I continue to work for Tavistock Relationships alongside my private practice. I find this dual role keeps me up to date with current thought, practice, training opportunities and provides a connection with colleagues that I value.

My belief is that with the right support and connection, painful experiences and pasts can be shared and understood. This enables us to make better sense of our lives and frees us to more enjoy the now.
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is a method of talking therapy which seeks to make sense of today's difficulties in the light of past experience.
Distress, depression, confusion, and conflict often arise when aspects of the past are unavailable to our conscious mind and we are left attempting to make sense of feelings while at the same time protecting ourselves from painful thoughts and memories.
The role of the therapist is to support a gentle exploration of the past in the context of a safe relationship-to enable a better understanding of the now and by so doing bring relief. The therapist offers a reliable, confidential and consistent space for as long as it takes, listening without judgement in a spirit of collaboration. It is this alliance which is the cornerstone of therapy and the relationship between client and therapist that is the harbinger of change.
People come to me for help a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through therapy:
Feelings of stress or anxiety
Panic attacks
Relationship problems
Grief, loss or bereavement
Problems with addiction
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
Abuse
Depression
Problems with confidence or self-esteem
Anger management
Issues relating to sexuality
Difficulties at work or in retirement
Problems with family or school life
Couples Psychotherapy can be helpful for you and your partner in a variety of circumstances. A third perspective in the form of the therapist can frequently offer just the right amount of support and insight to help: move a stuck dynamic, explore intransigent difficulties, or foster an improvement which can benefit not just both parties of the couple but the whole family.
Some seek couples therapy when considering separation, while others seek to improve their connection. The aim of couples therapy is to offer a safe neutral space in which both can be heard and gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their partner.Increased understanding and empathy can help make sense of previously hurt and angry feelings and enhance the intimacy which can so easily be lost in busy lives.

I work from my comfortable therapy room in 38, Grange Road Egham Surrey TW209QP which is easily accessible from areas such as Richmond, Twickenham and Windsor.
A session time of 50 minutes is established at the same time each week, a space protected and committed to by both of us. This gives the best possible opportunity to establish a good therapeutic relationship and outcome. Once we have agreed on a time, I reserve this space for you alone, so if for any reason you cannot make a session the fee will still apply.
If, as occasionally may happen there is an unavoidable need to rearrange I will do my best to offer an alternative slot in the same week. To date this has always been possible. I can also offer the flexibility of online sessions if you are traveling. The frequency and regularity of sessions is important in building trust and the commitment to work together is on both sides.
Fees on application but as a guide £60-£90 a session payable monthly in arrears.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how therapy works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to therapy, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on 07855087198 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
All enquires are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential and uses secure phone and email services.
